If you have read my blog you have noticed that I always sign each post with “Forever Grateful” and the name of my blog is “Simple Grateful Life”. I want to share with you why I am grateful! I want to first of all tell you that God loves you, no matter where you are or what you have done in the past, and wants to have a personal relationship with you. I would like to take just a few minutes and share how you can have a personal relationship with Him and have hope for the future! God has taken me from a sinner bound for an eternity in hell to a still sinner but forgiven of those sins and the freedom that only He can give.

First, know God is the creator. The world we live in was not randomly thrown together, it is part of a divine design. God created the world and you and he desires to have a relationship with you. Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and earth.”

Second, acknowledge that you are a sinner. We all are sinners, in the garden of Eden long ago the first humans Adam and Eve ate of the fruit God commanded them not to eat. Adam’s disobedience(sin) brought sin and death on the entire human race. Romans  5:12 states “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”

Third, realize there is a penalty for sin. The penalty for our sin is spiritual death, which is eternal separation from God in the lake of fire. Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Fourth, know you cannot earn eternal life. Eternal life is a free gift. The Bible tells us that no amount of good works or being a good person can earn your eternal life. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Fifth, understand God sent His son Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty of your sin. Jesus came to earth and lived a sinless life He was rejected and crucified on the cross shedding His blood on your behalf, Jesus was buried but rose from the grave three days later, conquering death. Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth (demonstrated) His love towards us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ dies for us.”

Finally, repent(turn from) your sin and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. You can call on the Lord to accept the free gift of eternal life or you can reject Him. By believing in Jesus alone, you enter into a relationship with God.
